Choosing to further education as a dental assistant, to better the life of you and your family, is a great idea and can be achieved faster than you might think. Before most people dive into any schooling or dental assistant training, they often want to know what is the average starting dental assistant salary? True you can take a national average, and I will at least get you close to what you might make, but in reality it is good to research what the average starting dental assistant salary is where you currently live, or plan to get a job.

Before we discuss the average salary of a dental assistant, let’s see exactly what the job description of a dental assistant is, and what kind of training is necessary to achieve a degree as a dental assistant.

A dental assistant is under the direct supervision of a dentist. What a dental assistant will do is assist with oral surgery and other procedures. As a dental assistant you would prepare and arrange the tools and instruments that are needed for particular schedule procedures. After you have prepared the necessary instruments needed for a particular procedure, a dental assistant will hand the necessary tools and equipment to the dentist, and will provide any assistance that the dentist may need during a treatment.

Some other tasks that you will do as a dental assistant is, record findings that the dentist may make, you will change barriers, and sterilize equipment between patients. So what kind of degree is required to become a dental assistant? What experience is needed to get a job as a Dental assistant? At minimum, you must have an Associates degree from an accredited program, and the more experience you have a better.
